Ceres in Cancer- Dissolution

“Be still:
There is no longer any need of comment.
It was a lucky wind
That blew away his halo with his cares,
A lucky sea that drowned his reputation.”
―Thomas Merton

Effective Dates: July 10th-September 24th, 2017

Helios’ Astrological Angle on Ceres in Cancer– So I’m waking up; bleary-eyed, feeling like death and basically a barely animated corpse, to write this article and there is no more apt metaphor for this transit. Ceres in Gemini was rough, especially on this Gemini. The Grand Dame asteroid, Goddess of Mothers and Life itself, has been pissed at us, and she took our words away until we learned how to use them properly- like any good mother trying to teach her children. Somehow the President escaped her power, so I would love to know his secret, as he spewed out nothing but words. The best words, like covfefe. There has been a distinct lack of creativity and knowing what to do with ourselves, not just here on Heretical Oracles, but something I have noticed across all of the creative sections of the internet. It’s like we’ve all just been sucked completely dry of all of our goofs, insights, jokes, and inspirations.

Luckily, this is Ceres moving into a brand new sign! So what happens now? Well, for one thing, you will recover your humor and inspiration from what was lost in Ceres’ bender in Gemini, but it will be slow. These things take time to rebuild- they need to grow. Ceres in Cancer will place issues of your growth at the forefront, and in doing so, you will have to face some hard truths about yourself. I know, I know- “MORE?!?!”But yes, more. Not only this but as she moves into the sign of the Mother, your issues with your own mother, your family and where you come from, will take on added significance. Your roots, your history… your connections to who you are- That is what is at stake here.

As we have seen, Ceres moving through a sign tends to take away that sign’s influence from us, pruning it like a bonsai tree, removing what is dead so that new growth can occur. Ceres will make you withdraw into yourself, shunning all contact with others, and forcing you into a type of hermitude. This is not aimed to isolate you, as it may feel, but what Ceres wants is to force you to reconsider the company that you keep, the connections that you make. Your family, both blood and chosen, is incredibly important. You must ensure that you are where you need to be. While we’re on THAT subject, prepare to feel extremely restless and in need of a change in scenery. Wait that one out- don’t just get up and move across the country with little to no planning. Vacations are fine however.

This process is painless to the gardener but can be painful for the tree. Growth is not easy, not at all- Growth is hell. That doesn’t change the fact that it’s necessary, however. This process must continue, and Ceres in Cancer will show us that.

Artemis’ Tarot Take on Ceres in Cancer (Knight of Pentacles, 3 of Swords, Magician)-  From great pain, comes awakening. It takes great time and pressure to create a solid structure, ready to resist whatever comes at it.  Sometimes monolithic humans fall, like tumbling icebergs splitting from a greater power, stabbed in the back by those they felt they trusted the most. That is what this transit is about, Heretics… What story do you trust?  What people do you trust?  And do you trust that you are awake in a sleeping world or asleep in yet another dream?

It’s going to be hard, Heretics. You’re going to want safety – somewhere to retreat to that will feel like the womb. That wont be present anymore. The womb is being reaped from us. We are being purged and thrown into the world, waking up in unfamiliar territory. It’s okay to cry, at first, but you’d better start learning and learning fast. There are people you cannot trust in this world.  There is heartache and individuals out for their own needs. There are “gurus” who come off as loving and there for you who will rape you and/or take your money in exchange for transcendental experiences. The thing is, Heretics, we need to learn to be our own mother right now and not rely on the mothering of anyone else in this world. That is another lesson of this transit… We must grow up now, and learn that although people may seem like they have the “best of intentions” and are there to nurture us – help us- they could very well be hidden parasites because of their own demons.

Nothing is surface level during this transit. Old pains are coming to the surface so that they can be cleansed and baptized into your new life. The eclipses are coming next, Heretics, and there will be no stability to be found. You must carry your home on your back, like a crab being washed ashore constantly by repeated waves. When the water ends it’s crashing, where will the pull of the moon have taken you? Or will you die struggling to fight against the push and the pull?  Don’t tire yet – for the eclipses in Aqua and Leo will light your soul on fire and set you on a brand new course. And you don’t want to miss what is next after this reprieve…  There is no rest, not even in death, the cycle just begins again, so it is time for us to find peace in the battle, to find home in the chaos under this Ceres in Cancer transit.

Thanks guys!!! Appreciated! Hmmmm let’s see how this one roles I guess….

Cancer covers my 6th-7th house, so where is home for me around my work colleagues and partnerships… natal Venus in 1st degree in Cancer opposing my natal Moon…. so absolutely no arguing with my mother during the next few weeks! :))). Ceres natally is 4th house in Aries.

But this could all turn out well, by being nurtured by a work colleague in terms of work in being able to be rooted and grounded moving forward! Being respectful by working in with my fellow work mentor and not being too Aries will definitely help the situation too!

    Cheers – Shane
