“The blood of a unicorn will keep you alive, even if you are an inch from death, but at a terrible price. You have slain something pure and defenseless to save yourself, and you will have but a half-life, a cursed life, from the moment the blood touches your lips.” –J.K. Rowling, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone
Helios on the New Moon in Scorpio– Hello Darkness, my old friend… With four planets in Scorpio for this Lunation and Saturn bearing down hard on Capricorn, the horizon is dark indeed. To explain this complex Lunation, allow me to share a story from my own life. So between the end of Darkworkers and the start of Heretical Oracles, I was in a very rough patch and was completely uninspired. I was stuck in a situation where I was powerless and emotionally numb. I wasn’t in touch with who I was or what I wanted from life (something that I still struggle with), and I shared my frustrations with Asmoday. He recommended a drastic course of action: A ritual where I essentially held a funeral for myself, to lay that persona to rest, as I had outlived it. In the end, I didn’t take that advice, but it is exactly what you need for this Moon.
Heretics, welcome to your eulogy- There will be tears.
The Sun & Moon, Saturn, Chiron, and Uranus– Every two-bit astrologer with a domain has talked about this being a potent moment of death and rebirth, but it is more than that. There is a deep dissatisfaction with the way your life has played out to this point, and you feel trapped by your choices. You legitimately hate who you are right now, and that must be addressed. While you can be functional in this state, it isn’t truly living. This Moon wants you to be brave enough to step out from the shadows of your fears and live in the fullness of your power. To make this happen, you need to kill off the lesser version of yourself that you have outgrown. The frustration and imprisonment you feel is the friction between who you used to be and the growth that you have done- your limitations are choking you, and not even in a good way.
Look, this is a crossroads for you. You already know this and sure don’t need me to tell you, but you’re not making a move, one way or the other. I get it, you’re scared of making the wrong choice, but how long can you stay as a ghost, haunting the life you used to live? What is left for you there? Why do you fight so hard for your pain, your hurt, and your loss? Are you afraid that if you give it up and move on that you won’t be able to feel anything? You need to heal. Right now all you are doing is staying in a limbo between healing and numbness, feeling only pain and hurt. You are a snake, and you need to shed your skin- It will be raw and vulnerable for a time, but if you don’t do it, it will strangle you. Let go of it and move on.
Mercury, Mars, and Pluto– So what can you do about all of this? Well, for starters I would recommend taking a page out of Mercury’s playbook. The magic of Mercury is that we are never the same person minute to minute, let alone day to day- Now you really need to try to emulate that. Be willing to forget everything that you know about yourself and reinvent who you are now, from the ground up. Those of you who cling to your persona, your idea of your own identity, will find this idea horrifying but it is where you start. While I touched on mind-shifting before, here is where you put it into practice. Anytime you find yourself thinking “I can’t do [insert thing]” or when someone says something like “You’ve never been into/talked about/ done [thing] before”, just pretend that you are someone different, who can do that thing. When your persona restricts who you are, then change your persona. You can literally mind-shift into becoming someone else, and when you do this you free yourself from your self-imposed limitations. Scorpio is magic, and change can come if you are willing to make it. After all, sticking to the way you have been doing things hasn’t really worked for you, now has it? It’s time to be who YOU want to be.
Venus, Jupiter, and Neptune– One thing that keeps coming up for me and my clients recently* is the issue of boundaries, specifically the issue of boundaries between people being lessened to the point of emotional and psychic union. Now, this can be amazing when it is at its best, but if it is anything less than perfect it becomes a nightmare. See, this is the classic “Too much of a good thing” scenario- You only need a little bit of your boundaries lessened, and then only with a select few. If you are suddenly privy to the deepest, innermost core of people out there, you will undoubtedly see and feel things that you have no interest in, and that can deeply hurt you. The current skies have it to where we are essentially defenseless and are under assault from the mere passing emotions of those around us. It’s just too much to handle. You have your own darkness, you don’t need to take on anyone else’s. The natural reaction is to sequester yourself at home, and hermit away from as much interaction as possible. This is doable now, but not for long. Remember- the holiday season is close at hand. Still, do take stock of your relationships and your social circle, and evaluate whether all of those who are currently close to your heart are truly good for you, or if they are snakes, slithering up for a good chance to strike.
