Venus in Virgo & Juno in Taurus: Fertile

“If you aren’t good at loving yourself, you will have a difficult time loving anyone, since you’ll resent the time and energy you give another person that you aren’t even giving to yourself.” Barbara De Angelis

Effective Dates: July 11th – August 7th, 2018 (Venus) July 10th- September 30th (Juno)

Helios on Venus and Juno inevitably stirring up trouble for the unsuspecting mortals– Okay guys, we’re in a bit of a mess this summer. By now, you have inevitably seen the memes floating around bitching about the six (or eight) planets in retrograde this summer. The drama is not unwarranted, especially since we also have three major eclipses happening against that backdrop. This leads to a long, stagnant-feeling time, where we feel stuck, drenched in our own sweat and unable to really be of much use to anyone. As such, it makes any change to the environment that much more important and impactful; Heretics, I give you your only major planetary ingress this eclipse season- Venus in Virgo.

Now I know seeing that the Goddess of Romance, Beauty, and Infidelity moving into the sign of her fall as the only change we get is disheartening, and my issues with Venus on a good day are WELL documented. Unfortunately, she’s all we got to get out of this mess, so we better figure out how to make it out alive together. Luckily, I have had a lifetime of working with a “bad” Venus, so lets work this out.

First, a quick astro lesson- When I say that Venus is in Fall, I mean that Venus is Exalted in the opposite sign of Pisces. This means that while Venus in Pisces is considered to be a great placement (where she is at her absolute best possible expression) Venus in Virgo is considered an awful one, where she is at her worst. But what do those crusty old ancient astrologers know, anyway? After all, they’re all dead, so its not like they can argue the point anymore. So, here’s what I say- I say instead of whining about how life is unfair and hard and we don’t deserve this hardship, we collectively shrug at what should weigh us down. Besides, right now we’re all kind of at our worst, its not like we have to fake it like we will in Venus in Libra. None of us are perfect, and we all have flaws. Those flaws are going to be on FULL display during these eclipses, as the cosmos takes a crowbar to our egos and tries to bash our skulls in with it.

Luckily, Venus isn’t exactly alone. Juno, asteroid Goddess of Marriage, Relationships and Litigation is moving into Taurus, and she asks you one thing- Are you happy? If so, awesome, spread that happiness around like pollen in the south. If not, why? What do you need to be happy? Seven times out of ten, the reason you’re unhappy is that you are overly fixated on a perceived lack- Something that someone else has and you think you need in order to be as happy as they are. But are they really happy? We can’t ever truly know the emotional state of another, and what demons they are struggling with. Hell, they may envy YOU while you are out there pining over what they have.

So here is the challenge: Wherever you have Virgo, reinvent yourself- don’t allow yourself to be held back by anyone’s perception of you. Wherever you have Taurus, seek out satisfaction. Put effort into making yourself happy, first and foremost. Whatever brings you joy, that is what you need to invest in. Self-care is the name of the game, and weirdly its the secret to figuring out the weirdness of Venus right now.

The fields of your joy are ripe for the planting, Heretics. Put some effort into yourself and you will bear more fruit than you imagine.
