Venus in Cancer: Full To Burst

“Don’t be ashamed to weep; ’tis right to grieve. Tears are only water, and flowers, trees, and fruit cannot grow without water. But there must be sunlight also. A wounded heart will heal in time, and when it does, the memory and love of our lost ones are sealed inside to comfort us.” – Brian Jacques

Effective Date: July 4th- 28th

Helios’ Astrological Angle on Venus in CancerAs if this Eclipse Season wasn’t enough on its own, what with six retrogrades and all- now it’s about to be compounded by Venus, Goddess of Femininity, Beauty, Romance and Pleasure (note I didn’t say Love) going into Cancer, the sign of ALL THE EMOTION. Frankly, this is getting exhausting, y’all- I’m an air boy, feelings are NOT meant to be included in the package! *a dramatic and exaggerated sigh escapes our narrator. Untouched by The Veronicas plays in the distance*.

So- All you want to do right now is shut your brain off while you do the bare minimum to get through your day so that you can go home, collapse in a dark room and binge the new season of Stranger Things after lighting 27 candles and zoning out at them wistfully for an hour. I get it, Eclipse season is like that, and its a completely valid way to deal with Venus and her shenanigans. It doesn’t get much done though, does it? No guys, this is time for more emotional shadow work, separate but integral to the main plotline of the eclipses and retrogrades. So while you’re being pummelled by your feelings of worthlessness and not achieving enough in your short time here, you’ll also need to go through a relationship issues intensive where you are ultra-raw and feeling literally every emotion all the time. Fun, no?

Listen, it is far too easy to surrender to the darkness of these eclipses, letting go and slipping into the void of your own self-pity- and Venus turns this into a #aesthetic. Right now, she is the urge to surrender, give in, crumple and give up. It feels like you’re drowning in your own tears, as all these old unresolved issues start coming to the surface and you start remembering how you tried to kiss your friend Rob in 4th grade and he clearly wasn’t into it and that’s why they stopped coming to your church and how badly that affected your future relationships. You know, just as an example. The thing is, you can either let it torture you and rake you over the coals for how dumb you were at the time, or you can laugh at it and move on. This transit will have you stuck DEEP in the nostalgia, and with Mercury retro ALSO in Cancer, if you were ever trying to get someone you lost back for whatever reason, now would be the time to make your play. It might just be better if you burned the box of old stuff and deleted the texts (keep the nudes though).

Think of it like this- In the old stories, Venus and Juno both bathed in a spring or sacred bath to renew their virginity and keep them, er… pure for their men(listen, ancient Greek dudes didn’t have the most evolved attitudes toward women, don’t @ me). Consider that much of the same is happening with this transit. You’ve collected so much gunk and grime on your soul that you need to take several dips to cleanse and renew yourself- You just have to descend into your own emotions and memories to do it. Combine that with the eclipses radically resetting your life and perspective and that is one hell of a combo to set the stage for a new future. Will it be comfortable and easy? No. Will it be worth it? Probably. Do you have much of a choice in the matter? Not really.

Might as well enjoy the cool dip in Venus’ embrace!
